My home is a little house situated on 'just under' an acre of land in a small village in Southeast Michigan. I share this space with my husband, 3 boys, 3 dogs, 4 chickens and an old barn cat. Each year we grow a large garden and I love everything about the process. Digging in the dirt, cultivating seeds, preserving my harvest... all of it brings me joy. In the last few years, we have focused more on herbs and less on heirloom tomatoes. Granted, we still love our tomatoes, but herbs have become a huge part of life as I love to not only cook with fresh herbs, but also craft many different products out of what we grow. Backyard chicken keeping really pushed me into learning more about holistic health and herbal products. There are no chicken doctors in my area and to care for my little flock, I had to get creative. I am a library and media technician by trade. Reading and research are passions of mine, through these passions I have found that the Earth provides a lot of what we need to keep ourselves healthy and happy. With a little trial and error, along with online courses and in person seminars, I slowly began my journey into herbalism. I believe in the healing power of mother nature, herbs and mindfulness. Our life on this little homestead is often busy and just a little wild, but I would not want it any other way.

My life is often spent doing many things with my hands. I love to dig in the dirt, play catch with my boys, camp and craft many things. There is not much glamour to mucking out stalls or cleaning chicken coops, but I still like to treat myself and to take care of my skin. […]Read more »

If Monday’s child is fair of face… I must have been born on a Monday. My skin has always been fair and sensitive. Facial toners that are geared to sensitive skin still leave my face red and irritated. I found that making my own herbal concoctions was the better way to go for my skin […]Read more »
Sitting on a front porch, strolling through a garden, enjoying a mindful moment, noticing the scent of the flowers and herbs, sun warmed and brought to you on a peaceful breeze is one of lifes great pleasures.
